To the Hamilton Community:
Last week’s edition of the Spectator (Vol. LXI, №2) published on Feb. 6 contained two errors:
1. YWCA was misspelled as YMCA in the headline
2. The student-led organization SMART was incorrectly attributed as “Sexual Misconduct and Reform Task-Force” the name of the organization is actually “Survivors Making Activism and Radical Transformation”.
We recognize that the YMCA is an entirely separate and quite different organization from the YWCA, and that the misreporting of SMART’s organization title may have caused confusion or misinformation.
The Spectator always strives to report the truth, and as the Editors-in-Chief it is our responsibility to ensure that published information is accurate. We apologize for the oversight, especially considering the sensitive nature of the information discussed in the story published last week. We would also like to thank SMART members for helping us work through and address these errors.
The online edition of this story has been corrected as of Feb. 12.
Sincerely,
Amanda Kim & Claire Goldstein
Editors-in-Chief
