Lacrosse:
Both the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will make the trek down the East Coast to Florida for a pair of games over the spring vacation. The men’s team will be stationed in Davenport, FL, where they will first take on Keene State on Mar. 14 before a clash with NESCAC foe Bowdoin on Mar. 17. The women’s team, ranked 12th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Preseason Poll, will travel to Englewood, FL to take on non-conference SUNY-Geneseo on Mar. 13 and will also face off against the Bowdoin Polar Bears in Punta Gorda, FL on Mar. 15. The women’s team will return home to Steuben Field for the second week of break for games against Oneonta and Amherst, while the men will hit the road again for away games at Nazareth and Amherst. Both teams begin their seasons on Saturday, Mar. 3 with heavily anticipated games against the Tufts Jumbos, who are nationally ranked in both the men’s and women’s polls.
Baseball & Softball:
Both the Hamilton baseball and softball teams will venture due south over Spring Break for a jam-packed schedule of games, with both teams playing double-headers nearly every day starting Mar. 13. After starting the season with a double-header at home against St. Lawrence on Mar. 10, the baseball team will make a pit-stop in Greensboro, NC for games against Guilford and Greensboro College before heading to Florida for the remainder of the week. The baseball team will primarily play at the Lake Myrtle fields in Auburndale, FL (facing off against five different colleges), but will also travel to Winter Haven, FL for a double-header against Farmingdale State during their stay in Florida. The team will cap off Spring Break play with a home double-header against SUNY-Canton on Mar. 25. The softball team is scheduled to play seven double-headers over their stay in Florida, taking on 14 different opponents including the Tufts Jumbos. The busy schedule will prepare the softball team for a rigorous conference schedule upon its return to campus, where they will play their first home double-header of the season after classes resume on Mar. 28.
Golf:
The golf teams will join the other Continentals migrating to the southern United States over Spring Break, venturing to Vero Beach, FL where hopefully the sun will be shining and the greens will be free of snow. The men’s golf team will play on Mar. 15, facing off in a tournament against Manhattanville and Trinity at the Sandridge Golf Club. The women’s golf team will have to wait until Mar. 16 for its shot at the Sandridge Dunes course, when they will square-off against Mount Holyoke and Vassar. The golf teams will have an extended period to hone their skills following Spring Break, with neither team returning to action until mid-April. The men’s team will tee-off at the SUNY-Delhi Invitational on Apr. 14, while the women’s team will wait until Apr. 21, where it will play in the Ithaca College Invitational.
Track and Field:
The men’s and women’s track and field teams will hit the road during the second week of the spring recess, hoping to carry their success this winter into the spring’s outdoor season. The teams will travel to Orlando, FL for a full week of training before capping off the week with the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville. However, before the teams kick off the outdoor season, sprinter Eli Saucier ’18 may be Alabama bound for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, with his school record 21.75 200-meter dash putting him in prime position to punch his ticket to nationals on Mar. 9.
Tennis:
After kicking off their spring season with away matches at conference opponents Bates and Colby on Mar. 10 and 11, respectively, the tennis teams will venture on a sunny getaway in Orlando, FL over Spring Break. The men’s team will play in five matches over spring recess (starting on Mar. 15), including clashes with Midwestern teams Grinnell and Oberlin; both are infrequent opponents for those on the eastern seaboard. The women’s tennis team will join the men in Orlando on Mar. 20, opening Florida play with a match against Oberlin. The following day, Mar. 21, the Continentals will take on St. Lawrence, a familiar opponent. The two teams played back in the fall season, where Sophia Aulicino ’21 swept her three singles matches over the weekend. The women’s team closes out its Spring Break competition with matches against Brooklyn and Babson. The tennis teams are yearning to make their home debuts at the brand new Tietje Family Tennis Center on campus, and will use their Spring Break trip to make sure they are playing their best tennis on the new courts.
Rowing:
Capping off the travels of Hamilton athletics spring travel are the men’s and women’s rowing teams, who will break from the mold of traveling to Florida for Spring Break. Instead, both teams will make the trek to Gainsville, GA, to compete at the John Hunter Regatta. The men’s team is coming off of a successful fall season highlighted by a first place finish in the Bridge to Bridge Regatta, and an eighth place finish (out of 38 teams) in October’s Head of the Schuylkill. The women’s team also had immense success in the fall, proving they will be a force to be reckoned with this spring. The team finished first in both the Bridge to Bridge Regatta and the Head of the Genesee, but the women’s team’s best performance came at the Head of the Schuylkill, where the Continentals placed second out of 38 teams. The rowing season will culminate in the NESCAC Championships in early May, after a rigorous slate of regattas in Mass. and Upstate, NY.
