Dear Readers,
Long-form investigative reporting teams from
The Monitor
and
The Spectator
have been collaborating since Fall 2020 on a series of articles that will be published during the next few weeks. In addition to spending several months researching, interviewing, drafting, and revising these articles, members from both teams attended an Investigative Journalism Workshop with Kat McGrory ’05 on Feb. 17, and Jessica Moulite ’14 has supported
The Monitor
’s investigative reporting projects this Spring 2021 semester.
The two teams aim to merge in Fall 2021 under
The Spectator
. In preparation for this change, the teams will be identifying hiring processes, training procedures, and article schedules. If investigative reporting is of interest to you, please be on the lookout in your Hamilton College student email for an application to serve on the team for the 2021–2022 academic year.
The Spectator
’s Long-form Investigative Reporting Editor Duncan Freeman ’22 hopes that the upcoming articles and the Fall 2021 merged team will “illuminate stories in the Hamilton community that deserve a closer look than traditional sections can provide.” Freeman wrote the first article in the series, which can be accessed here.
Best,
Claire Goldstein ’22 and Emma Mae Regan ’22
Editors-in-Chief,
The Spectator
