From Friday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 25, Hamilton College hosted nearly 1,700 alumni, parents and friends for Family Weekend. This weekend, also known as Fallcoming, is celebrated every year with a variety of activities, including tours, concerts and student-sponsored events.
Fallcoming events included a football game against Amherst College, with HEAT and Hamilton’s dance team performing during halftime. Other varsity sports games featured field hockey, women’s tennis, volleyball, men’s and women’s rowing and men’s and women’s soccer. The Wellin Museum also celebrated its 10th anniversary with a panel of alumni and docent-led tours. Parents were able to better learn about their children’s education in “Classes Across the College,” which featured a faculty discussion about Hamilton’s liberal arts curriculum.
Notably, President David Wippman gave a College Update speech, addressing concerns about COVID, speaking about Hamilton’s application yield and new faculty that have come on board this year. He also emphasized the success of the “Because Hamilton” campaign, which has raised $366 million dollars out of a goal of $400 million dollars. Outside of school-related issues, President Wippman spoke about the current political environment and its polarizing effect on higher education.
