How did you get introduced to water polo?
I’ve swam since the age of 2 and decided when I was 9 that swimming is a boring and impractical sport. My brother tried water polo and quit early, but I liked it more than swimming so I decided to start learning to throw a ball and tread water. Been playing water polo ever since.
What is your favorite thing to do on campus besides your sport?
Converting varsity swimmers into club water polo players.
What attracted you to Hamilton’s water polo program?
It is student run so I knew I’d get the opportunity to coach the team one day. The team itself has good friends and everyone who is there wants to be there.
What has been the toughest obstacle to overcome during your athletic career?
I’m smaller than nearly all elite water polo players in Southern California, so the biggest obstacle for me was overcoming the strength and speed of my opponents by developing better technique, attitude, and confidence than every single person I come up against.
What was your favorite sports moment at Hamilton?
Fall 2017, State Champs Game 2 vs. NYU, winning 7–8 in front of a huge crowd of rowdy, drunk Hamilton students. My captain and myself combined for all 8 goals and the crowd was on fire.
If you weren’t on the water polo team, what Hamilton sports team would you want to be on and why?
Club Hockey where I’d very likely run into the exact same “toughest obstacle” that I ran into playing water polo. But I don’t do well on land sports, keep me near the water cuz I drown walking around on dry asphalt.
