
Women’s Ice Hockey
Hamilton’s Women’s Ice Hockey swept #10 Bowdoin last weekend. The team started the weekend with a game Friday Feb. 8. The first period would be uneventful until Lilly Truchon ’26 put Hamilton in front with just 2.7 seconds remaining in the first period. Bowdoin would even the score with eight minutes in the third period as the pass was lifted above the goaltender’s right shoulder. The Continentals would score the game-winner with only five minutes left in the game. Brooke Heck ’28 took a wrist shot from behind the right circle and into the net. The Polar Bears would attempt to mount a comeback as they put six shots on goal during two power plays in the third and pulled their goaltender for a sixth skater with about 1:30 left, but couldn’t get another goal allowing Hamilton to win 2-1.
The second game was less stressful as Hamilton cruised to a 3-1 win over Bowdoin Saturday Feb. 9. Bowdoin would score the first goal with two minutes left in the first period. The Continentals quickly answered on a long-range goal by Gabby Martiniello ’28 with seconds remaining in the first. The lone goal of the second was scored by Truchon and put Hamilton ahead 2-1 with 44 seconds left. The Continentals took advantage of a power-play opportunity in the third period for an insurance goal. Lydia Bullock ’26 quickly fired a shot past the goaltender’s left shoulder and gave Hamilton a 3-1 lead and win.
Truchon was named the NESCAC Women’s Player of the Week for her efforts in the two games over the weekend with two goals and two assists. The Continentals are off this weekend before they return for another NESCAC game at Amherst Colleg Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
Men’s Ice Hockey
Men’s Ice Hockey had a disappointing weekend as their nine game win streak came to an end with a loss and a tie. Friday Feb. 8th Hamilton would lose 7-5 to Bowdoin at home. The Polar Bears would score first with a power-play goal with ten minutes left in the first period. Alex Danis ’26 tied the score for the Continentals 14 seconds later, and Grisha Gotovets ’25 gave Hamilton its only lead of the night minutes later off a power-play goal. The Continentals had its only lead with a score of 2-1 after the first 20 minutes. A Bowdoin three goal second period sealed the fate of the Continentals who despite attempting a comeback would fall short after pulling the goalie with two minutes remaining.
Hamilton would play a second game against Colby the next day that would end in a 3-3 tie. Colby would take an early two-goal lead with powerplay goals in the first and in the second. Hamilton would respond with two goals of its own. Alex Danis ’26, tipped a wrist shot with nine minutes left in the second period to make it 2-1. Jackson Krock ’26 would tie the score 2-2 with five minutes to go. However, this would not be enough as the Mules took the lead again with six minutes left in the third period. Trailing 3-2 late in the third Hamilton pulled their goaltender for a sixth skater. Devon de Vries ’27 would gather a rebound and then stuffed it into the net, tying the game. The game would remain tied after two overtimes so the game would go to a shootout. The first two skaters came up empty for both teams. James Philpott ’25 would take the third shot as he beat the goaltender on his glove side inside the right post. Charlie Archer ’25 stopped the last attempt for the win. Hamilton plays next against Tufts University for another NESCAC game on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Men’s Basketball
Hamilton men’s basketball played two games this weekend, a 69-57 win against Connecticut College followed by a 84-69 loss to Tufts. The weekend started on a high note as Hamilton played Connecticut College at home. Going into the second half, the Continentals had a small lead. But an effort led by Hank Morgan ’25 gave the team a late surge to win the game in definitive fashion. A key three-pointer was made by Morgan with 17 minutes left in the second half to break a 35-35 tie and put the Continentals in the driver’s seat for the rest of the game. Jalen Reese ’27 tied a season-high with 10 points while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds and dished out four assists. This win gave the team a five game win streak.
The Continentals win streak would come to an end as they ran into #15 ranked Tufts. The Jumbos would get a ten point advantage early in the first half and never let their foot off the gas. At some points, Hamilton trailed by as many as 30 points. Some late game heroics closed the gap but it was never competitive. Despite this, Morgan recorded 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He now leads the NESCAC with 22.4 points per game. Hamilton returns home to face Williams College in another NESCAC matchup Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Women’s Basketball
Hamilton’s Women’s Basketball won both of its games this weekend with strong wins against Tufts and Connecticut College. They played Connecticut College Friday, Feb. 8 and would win 81-69. Taylor Lambo ’26 would score her 1000 career points among her 16 for the game. She is the 11th Continental in team history to reach the milestone.This game was never close as the Continentals were able to carry leads as large as 15 on multiple occasions.
The team would follow this game up with another stellar performance in a 72-54 win over Tufts on Saturday, Feb. 9. This was the team’s last home game and three seniors were honored before tip-off. The game was close in the first but a big second half run led by Kendall Harris ’27 helped Hamilton secure the win. Harris posted her fourth double-double this season. She is fifth in the conference in scoring with 16.1 points per game. The Continentals travel for a road game at Williams College Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
