Dear Campus Community,
The sun is out, the weather is warm, and it is a good time to be a student on the Hill! Unless, of course, you are knee-deep in studying, writing term papers, or preparing thesis presentations. But nonetheless, we encourage you all to lie down in the sun for as long as you can, like an old sailor smiling blissfully in the eye of a hurricane.
With barely a week until our last day of classes, The Spectator encourages its readers to take their eyes off the ball as much as possible and to focus on things more important than work. Spend time with friends! Go pick flowers in the Glen! Smell the sweet dew on Minor Field in the morning! Read a book on the Kirkland Green! Play Spikeball on KTSA lawn! In ten years, you won’t be saying, “I wish I didn’t flunk that class my senior year and have to do another semester,” you’ll be saying “I wish I played one more game of Spikeball with my friends.”
If you’re looking for more forms of distractions, there’s a boatload of events and activities going on around campus this weekend! Sabina Feder presents her thesis at 4:00 on Friday, May 2, entitled, “Stirring the Pot: Redefining Food Security Work in Utica” in KJ 101. After that, head over to the Theater Department Senior Projects, which begin at 6:00 in the Barrett Lab Theater. Then on Saturday night, check out the Events Barn to celebrate GSU’s 51st birthday party!
Whether or not it feels real, the year is almost over! Remember: clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
Love,The Spectator
