Dear Hamilton Community and Welcome Families!
While the academic season continues to ramp up, we hope you make the most of all of Hamilton’s offerings, from sports games (see page 24!) to free yoga classes at the Blood Fitness Center. Saturday, Nov. 1, is slated to be an exciting day chock-full with events, whether or not you will be entertaining family. President Tepper will be providing the community with a College Update at 11:15 a.m. in the Chapel, Hamilton Football is playing Middlebury at home at 12:30 and La Vaguardia is also hosting a Dia de los Muertos event at 1 p.m. in the Days-Massolo Center (DMC) sun room.
Parents and siblings, if you’re interested in getting the full Hamilton experience, turn to page 7 for a fun family quiz! Especially for families of first-years, we hope you enjoy getting to vizualize your student’s new stomping ground and finally see the places they’ve been talking about on the phone— “lib”, “KJ” and “pub.” If your first-year student is still feeling the initial waves of uncertainty or unsure of what groups they want to be a part of, feel free to remind them, as an editorial staff of many upperclasmen will tell you, that it will, in fact, all work out for the best. And regardless of how it feels now, these months will be some that they look back on for the rest of their Hamilton careers.
For those of you without families coming for the weekend, don’t worry, you are not alone! There are tons of activities to take part in, and don’t forget, as we have grown accustomed to saying here, to enjoy the remaining days of fall and the perks it offers. The rain may be disappointing, but what better weather in which to watch a new TV show and drink hot tea in your room!
Happy Family Weekend, everyone—we hope each of you enjoy connection and quality time!
Sincerely,
The Spectator
