Missy Segal ’21 is a junior on the Hamilton women’s hockey team. Segal greatly contributed to the Continentals’ trilling win against Williams College in the NESCAC quarterfinals on Feb. 29. Segal helped tie the game up for the Continentals in the third period when she won a faceoff and passed the puck to Nancy Loh ’21 who put it in the back of the net. That was not Segal’s only assist — she had two other assists for the Continentals. Segal will be a key player to look out for when Hamilton takes on Middlebury in the NESCAC Semi-Finals this weekend.

How did you get introduced to swimming?
I started playing hockey when I was little because my two older brothers played.
What is your favorite thing to do on campus besides your sport?
One of my favorite things to do on campus besides playing hockey is to go to trivia night!
What attracted you to Hamilton’s swim and dive program?
I first really liked the school, and then learned about the program through our coach at a camp in the summer. I liked the hockey program because of the great team atmosphere and the ability to compete at a high level.
What has been your favorite sports moment at Hamilton?
My favorite sports moment was coming back from a two-goal deficit in the NESCAC quarterfinals against Williams. We scored the game-tying goal with less than two minutes left and the game-winning goal with only 2.8 seconds left in the game is awesome to see that work pay off.
What is the toughest obstacle you have had to overcome in your athletic career?
One of the toughest obstacles in my athletic career was getting cut from a club hockey team the first time that I tried out for one.
If you weren’t on the swim and dive team, what Hamilton sports team would you want to be on and why?
If I wasn’t on the hockey team, I think I would want to be on the tennis team. In the spring my teammate and I love to play tennis (we’re always looking for more competition).
