
Class & Charter Day is known to be one of Hamilton’s oldest and most favored traditions. While students, faculty, and staff join for a ceremony celebrating the academic and scholarly achievements of Hamilton students and faculty members on one day, the most exciting for most students is what happens next — the concern. The Class & Charter Day concert is a campus-wide favorite, and this year, with no more Spring Concert, Hamilton’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) has has gone all out for this final event of the year. Although voting is now closed, here is a breakdown of all potential artists currently lined up for this year’s Class & Charter Day.
Kehlani is best known for her recent single “Good Life” featuring G-Eazy, released after her popular second album
SweetSexySavage
. She earned two Grammy nominations for Best R&B Performance — one in 2016 and one in 2018 — and a nomination for Best Female Soul/R&B Performer at the 2017 American Music Awards. With her performance skills and singing voice, she always puts on an entertaining show. Watch her at the Grammy Awwards on Jan. 28 to see if she wins Best R&B Performance.
Rapper Lil Yachty first debuted his hit song “One Night” on SoundCloud in December of 2015. Since then, he has become an international rap sensation, high-fashion model, and nominee for the 2017 Best Rap/ Sung Collaboration Grammy award. He is best known for his collaborations with DRAM (“Broccoli”) and Kyle (“iSpy”), and recently released his third album
Teenage Emotions
, which he is currently on tour for. In 2016, Lil Yachty modeled for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 fashion line, and has collaborated with and modeled for Nautica.
Jon Bellion’s first recorded album,

Bleachers is an indie-pop band lead by Jack Antonoff, the former lead guitarist for the band fun. Best known for their songs “I Wanna Get Better,” which reached number one on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart, “Don’t Take the Money,” which reached number three on the same chart, Bleachers is heavily influenced by late-80’s and early-90’s music and films. The band has just finished its tour for its second album

, but has dates lined up to play venues this April, such as the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C., and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, and is also a scheduled headliner at Coachella. Well known for their stage presence and dedicated fanbase, Bleachers’ music style has been compared to that of Lorde, WALK THE MOON, and — of course — fun.
Young the Giant is an indie rock band that formed in 2004. The band’s first three singles “My Body,” “Cough Syrup,” and “Apartment” all reached the top 5 on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart. They debuted their self-titled album

(2016), and have hinted that they are in the process of writing a fourth. The band’s third album tour recently ended in 2017, but has been acclaimed for its amazing vocals and instrumentals.
Louis the Child is a DJ duo that has written music and lyrics featuring artists such as Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, and Icona Pop. The band’s most well-known singles are “Weekend” ft. Icona Pop, and “It’s Strange” ft. K.Flay, which gained considerable recognition after Taylor Swift added it to her Spotify playlist “Songs that Will Make Life Awesome.” Louis the Child has opened for The Chainsmokers and has been featured in music festivals like Electric Zoo, Lollapalooza, and Coachella. The duo is currently in the middle of their world tour, and is scheduled to return to the U.S. to play more venues in April.
Bebe Rexha is a pop/R&B singer-songwriter who has recently toured with artists such as Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry. In 2010, Rexha met Fall Out Boy’s bassist Pete Wentz and began writing with him in New York City. In March of 2014, she released her first single “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You”, and her debut EP,
I Don’t Wanna Grow Up
, was released in August of 2015. The singer has also performed background vocals for songs like “Hey Mama” by David Guetta, is well known for her newest collaboration with Louis Tomlinson, “Back to You”, and is currently on tour with Katy Perry.
Mac Miller is a singer, rapper, and songwriter. Miller is a selftaught musician and plays piano, guitar, drums, and bass, but first began rapping at age fourteen. His first mixtape

. was released in 2010, and quickly prompted a successful tour that sold out every venue. Miller has a strong friendship with Wiz Khalifa, and considers artists like him, Outkast, and the Beastie Boys to be his major inspirations. Some of his biggest songs include “Weekend” ft. Miguel, “Donald Trump”, and “Knock Knock”, and he has been praised for his energetic stage presence and performance ability.
Lil Dicky is an American rapper and comedian who first began rapping “simply to get attention comedically” to break into the screenwriting industry. He first gained attention with the release of his music video “Ex-Boyfriend” in 2013, which received over one million views in 24 hours. After releasing over 30 more songs on YouTube, the rapper opened a Kickstarter to raise money for the production of his first album
Professional Rapper
. After gaining more experience in the rap industry, he stated that he fell in love with music and was going to continue with the profession until he had proved his point.
Lastly, Charli XCX is a British singer-songwriter who first gained fame through writing and being featured on the hit song “Fancy,” sung by Iggy Azalea in 2013. Her single “Boom Clap” also was featured on the soundtrack for the movie
The Fault in Our Stars
. Her music is heavily influenced by artists such as Britney Spears, The Cure, and The Spice Girls, and she recently released an album in 2017 titled

. While not currently on tour, she has gone on world tours to promote her previous albums, and has collaborated with major artists such as Tove Lo, French Montana, and David Guetta. Hamilton’s 2018 Class & Charter Day will be held on Monday, May 7.
