Dear Campus Friends,
It’s midterm season, like it or not. The energy of the first month and a half of the semester may be waning, but our spirits must not. Don’t let the temporary trifles of early fall — midterms, rain and the chaos of Freshman fall friend groups — distract you from the true joy of cracking open a freshly printed edition of this here Spectator.
For some of us, Fall Break can’t come soon enough. Many will head home, others will brave trips in the Adirondacks and some will pass their time in the Twilight Zone that is Hamilton’s campus on breaks. Wherever you will find yourselves, use the break as it is intended; to rest, recuperate and re-energize yourself for the rest of the semester (or just until Thanksgiving Break rolls around). If you are heading home this Wednesday (or Tuesday, or if you’re especially crazy, Monday), remember to definitely not feign sickness from class or work to get a headstart on the mid-day traffic, but please do have a safe trip home!
Although the imminent break might be pressing at the forefront of everyone’s mind, make sure to make some mental space for some Hamilton events happening in the next few days. One special recommendation from
The Spectator
’s Editorial Board is to join President Tepper on his Silent Walk, the President’s new weekday morning initiative to help bring the community together in an act of ritual. The walk leaves at 8:00 a.m. from the Chapel. On Thursday, 10/10, join Professor Ellingson for a launch of their new book, “Planting with Purpose: How Farmers Create a Resilient Landscape.” On Saturday, go cheer on the Cross Country Team in their Invitational Meet at 11 a.m. Then head over to the Rugby Field to watch Men’s Rugby’s last regular season match at 1 pm. Cap off your weekend watching Women’s Soccer on Sunday at 11am.
Good luck to all getting through the last few days before Fall Break. Heads up Hamilton!
Sincerely,
The Spectator
