Hamilton senior guard Kena Gilmour ’20, scored the 1,500th point of his career on Friday, Nov. 29, during a win against California Lutheran University. He is now one of nine total Hamilton players to reach the milestone.
Gilmour led the team on Friday night with 18 points and has already scored over 20 points per game three times this year in only five games played. His season-high so far is 30 points against Caltech on Nov. 27. He currently averages 4.8 rebounds per game and 3.8 assists per game.
Since the beginning of his sophomore season, Gilmour has started every game. In both of the past two years, he ranked second in the NESCAC in points per game.
His talent has led the Continentals deep into two straight NCAA Championship runs. In his sophomore season, the team lost in overtime to Springfield College in the third round, despite Gilmour’s career-high of 40 points.
Last season, the team again made it to the third round of the Championship tournament before falling to Christopher Newport University. This season they hope to make it even further and have a great chance to do so under Gilmour’s leadership.
Gilmour has been recognized by many for his contributions and achievements on and off the court. These include most notably; NESCAC Player of the Year, NABC Coaches’ Division III Northeast District Player of the Year, and NABC First Team All-American honors, all of which came during the 2018–19 season.
Gilmour has also been named to multiple NESCAC Winter All-Academic teams, as well as to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team. This season is one to watch, as he is sure to put on yet another incredible performance throughout his final season as a Continental.
