Writer of piece is 21 years old. Legal age for drinking is 21. Please drink responsibly.
In colleges and universities across the United States, social gatherings tend to be stocked with a usual cast of alcoholic beverages: Bud Light, Coors Light, Busch Light, Narragansett Light, Budweiser, Michelob Ultra and Pabst Blue Ribbon among others. Those of age can empathize with the feeling of disappointment when there is only Keystone Light or Natty Light. The smile on your face as you made your rounds vanishes upon entry when met with this chilling realization. However, I bid you all rejoice as your night does not have to be spent in disappointment.
My intent is not to be snobbish, as I am certainly not above a cold Coors Light or Pabst Blue Ribbon. I simply wish to inform you that there is always room to expand your pallets and find something that you truly enjoy to drink. For some of you, I believe I have the answer to the age-old question of “what are we drinking tonight?” The answer is an ice-cold beer from Yuengling’s star-studded lineup.
Founded in 1829 by German brewer David Jüngling, D.G. Yuengling & Son is America’s oldest brewing company. Many consider German brewers among the finest in the world, and they have been for hundreds of years due to their unwavering commitment to quality and purity of ingredients.
Yuengling is certainly no exception. As such, it currently boasts a stellar variety of enjoyable beers which are perfect for any occasion. While Yuengling brews several beers in a variety styles, including ales, porters, and pilsners, I shall stick to discussing my top choices and why you should give them a try.
Yuengling’s traditional lager is their flagship beer, and my personal favorite.
The traditional lager is both hearty and flavorful — but not overbearing. While it is certainly heavier and fuller-bodied than the college classics I listed above, I certainly find it enjoyable. With a 4.5% ABV, distinct character, and well-balanced taste, you are in good hands — or rather, a good beer is now in yours.
However, I am acutely aware that everyone has different tastes and preferences with regards to beer. Some of us prefer a stronger, heavier taste; others prefer a lighter, cleaner taste. Some of us also pay attention to how many calories and carbohydrates we consume when we drink.
For these reasons, Yuengling Traditional Lager might not be your first choice. With 141 calories and 12 grams of carbohydrates per 12oz serving, I can imagine your nutritional concerns. Fortunately, Yuengling has a more viable option if any of these foibles are applicable to you. Enter Yuengling’s Light Lager, brewed for consumers who prefer to opt for light, low-calorie and low-carbohydrate beers.
Yuengling Light Lager sacrifices very little of the Traditional Lager’s distinct character and flavor despite delivering only 99 calories, 3.2 grams of carbohydrates, 4% ABV and the signature refreshment of a light beer. Want something even lighter? You can opt for Yuengling Flight, the lightest beer in their lineup. It is a refreshing light beer with only 95 calories, 2.6 grams of carbohydrates, and 4.2% ABV per 12oz serving.
You may be think that such greatness comes at a cost, right? Not necessarily; depending on where you shop, a 24-pack of 12-oz cans of the Light Lager or Traditional goes for as little as $20.99, although the newer and rarer Yuengling Flight is more expensive. Fortunately, Yuengling’s Traditional and Light lagers can be easily found around the country, even here in Clinton, NY.
