
As the snow melts and the weather grows warm enough for people to voluntarily go outside, spring sports are into the second half of their seasons. Here is a look at how Hamilton’s sports teams have fared so far this season and their upcoming events. Shake off that post-eclipse funk by attending a game or following along.
Men’s lacrosse
: The men’s lacrosse team is 6–4 so far this season, with a 3–4 record within the NESCAC, and while they lost their last game, they have won three of their last five. The season got off to a dominant start with a 21–8 win over Bates and an even more lopsided 22–1 thrashing of Colby. Coming off a 7–8 season in 2023, the Continentals look to finish strong with a winning record.

Women’s lacrosse
: After a 3–0 start, women’s lacrosse is now 4–4 after a recent string of losses. However, two of those defeats were to top-10 ranked opponents in Tufts and Colby, and the Continentals have rebounded in their most recent game with a 9–8 victory over #18 Amherst.

Women’s Track and Field
: In their last event, the women’s track and field team made their best showing of the season, placing second among 17 teams in the Pioneer Spring Invitational at Utica University.

Men’s Track and Field
: The men’s team placed seventh of 16 at the Pioneer Spring Invitational. Jack Quinn ’27 made a promising debut in the steeplechase, winning the ten-person field in 9:49.73. Hugh Williams ’26 made the podium in the 800 meters, finishing third in 2:01.35.

Softball
: The softball team started the season 4–0 and currently stands at 12–12, having lost their last three games. Their most recent games were a pair of losses to Tufts in a doubleheader, 3–1 and 4–2. The Continentals are 3–1 in away games this season, which could become 4–1 if they beat Bates this coming Saturday.

Baseball
: The Continentals aim to break a six-game losing streak against Wesleyan on Apr. 12. Currently 7–11, the team had a 5–1 stretch prior to the start of the losing streak, offering optimism that they can deliver a satisfying finish to the season. Down 12–5 in their last loss, Hamilton made an almighty surge in the eighth inning to pull back six runs, only to lose 12–11 in the end. Regardless of their record, the team is not short on heart.

Women’s tennis
: The women’s tennis team is 4–5 on the season, coming off a pair of 7–2 losses to Bowdoin and Colby. #1 singles player Hannah Apsey ’25 is 2–6 in singles this season, though she and Stephanie Pratt ’25, who plays in the second singles spot, have partnered for a 6–2 record in doubles.

Men’s Tennis
: The men’s team is 6–7 and 0–5 in conference. They have lost their last four. Connor Griff ’25 opened the season with eight straight wins in the #1 singles slot, though he has lost his last two, one of them very closely in a 10-point tiebreak.

Men’s Golf
: On Apr. 9, the Continentals won a title at the 13-team event at the DuPont Country Club. Ramon Aroca Gonzalez ’26 led the team and earned an individual medal, while Tyler Tornoe ’25 and Will Whittaker ’25 finished just outside the top 10, tying for 12th.

Women’s Golf
: The women’s team has also won an event recently, taking the crown at the Garden State Collegiate Classic on Apr. 5 and 6. Sofia Weinstein ’24 placed second overall in the 56-golfer, 10-team meet, with Peyton Sichol ’26 just one stroke behind in a tie for third. Angela Liu ’27 rounded out the top ten, tying for 10th.

Women’s Rowing
: The women’s rowing team is ranked ninth nationally and kicked off their season with a defeat of Marietta College followed by a close loss to Ithaca College, who are ranked just one spot higher at 8th. On Apr. 6, the Continentals’ varsity eight finished second in a high-quality field including four other teams ranked nationally, crossing the finish line just thre and a half seconds behind #1 Wesleyan.

Men’s Rowing
: On Apr. 6, the men’s rowing team finished third of four boats in the Class of 2003 Cup, just under six seconds behind second place and just under 13 seconds out of first. The team ranked eighth in the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association preseason poll for Division III.
