After completing a full semester of on- and off-campus instruction during the fall, the College is taking further steps this spring semester to ensure the safety of on-campus students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community by considering new regulations as well as incorporating successful Fall 2020 policies.
Prior to their campus return, every student signed a Community Standards Agreement, which outlines the College’s expectations for the upcoming semester and the consequences for violating those expectations.
The College is starting on a modified operating status with the hopes that its restrictions will prevent cases from spreading across campus early in the semester. Under the yellow alert level, students may only enter their respective residence halls and are not allowed to leave campus unless given special permission. Additionally, the status limits the number of staff on campus to <75%.
One way that the COVID-19 Task Force has attempted to incorporate some normalcy into its modified operating status is through their approval of running and other outdoor activities on several off-campus routes, including Griffin Road, Lower Loop, and Upper Loop.
Additionally, the transportation office is coordinating a Jitney Pick-up Monday through Saturday at Hannaford and Walmart. Students may also download the stores’ app to order curbside pickup. Jitney staff will then pick up your order and deliver it to your dorm. This service will be available from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. on operating days.
As for health and wellness, the Counseling Center is now open and is offering weekly events, including Mindful Music on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 A.M. and Fridays at 4:30 P.M., Sound Healing on Fridays at 12:30 pm, and Breathwork Sessions on Wednesdays at 8:30 pm. Additionally, there are several weekly Zoom Wellness classes available, including Yoga with Kristy at 12 P.M. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, HIIT Fitness with Regina at noon on Wednesdays, and Full Body Barre at noon on Fridays. Keep an eye out for the daily events email to keep track of the many programs offered this semester.
Despite this week’s new cases, it is possible to keep the College’s positivity rate remains low, so it is up to students, faculty and staff to continue to take precautionary measures so the Hamilton community prevents a COVID outbreak on campus.
