Name:
Allie LeeHoffman
Hometown:
McLean, VA
Favorite Professional Athlete:
PGA Golfer Kevin Na. Love his vibe.
How did you get introduced to golf?:
My dad signed my brother and me up for a summer golf camp when I was 7 years old. He claims that when I came home after the first day I went up to him and said, “Let’s go play 9.” I like to think of that as my meet cute with golf.
Favorite thing to do on campus besides your sport?:
Sitting outside on a picnic blanket with my friends when the weather is nice.
What attracted you to Hamilton’s golf program?:
The on-campus practice facility, team dynamic, and of course Coach Cupp.
What is the toughest obstacle you have had to overcome in your athletic career?:
There was a time when my game was pretty stagnant even after putting hours on hours of practice in daily. Mentally, it was difficult and discouraging to see myself put in all this effort and not see improvements. At a point I had to reevaluate why I play and love golf, and essentially flipped my mindset completely. Now, it’s routine for me to check in on my mental game so I can make sure I go into competitions with the right attitude.
What are you most looking forward to this season?:
Even though this season has looked a bit unusual, we’ve played really consistently and remained positive throughout it all. I’m excited to continue on this streak and finish this season off on a high-note with my team.
What has been your favorite sports moment at Hamilton?:
I would say tying for first at Day 1 of the NESCAC Championship this year was pretty special. It’s been a nice affirmation that my goals are in-reach and to continue to work hard.
If you weren’t on the golf team, what Hamilton sports team would you want to be on and why?:
I’d love to see if my golf swing could help me out on the field hockey team.
