Dear Hamilton Community,
The Oct. 7 attack on Israel and the Israeli government’s response have consumed the nation and much of the world in critical dialogue centered around a complex conflict. While recent events reveal shocking accounts of violence on a highly concentrated scale, we must also acknowledge the complicated history of this conflict which spans the course of decades in order to responsibly discuss its future as informed citizens, and naturally, as current students. As Hamilton represents a diverse community, we encourage everyone to learn from each other through the kind of open dialogue which defines our campus — one to which we must contribute our ideas in order to meaningfully learn.
It can be isolating to learn about the developing conflict in the bubble of newspaper headlines and social media posts. We encourage you to have real conversations — talk to your friends, peers or faculty about world events. Despite the polarizing nature of this topic, it is important to listen with empathy and share with respect.
Sincerely,
The Spectator
