
The women’s track and field team has broken multiple school records this season. Since the start of the season, records have been broken in both track and field events respectively. These include records for the 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000-meter run, 3,000-meter run, 1,500-meter run, 60-meter hurdles, javelin throw and the mile run.
Dana Schwartz ’26 broke her own team and facility records at Utica in the javelin throw with a distance of 37.50 meters (123 feet, 0 inches) on Sunday, March 30 at the Utica University Almost Spring Invitational in Utica, N.Y. Schwartz held the previous team mark of 35.85 meters that she set on April 27, 2024. She then broke her own record in the javelin throw for the second straight week and improved her qualifying distance with a throw of 37.65 meters (123 feet, 6 inches). The next week, Schwartz broke her own facility record at Hamilton College and bettered her team record for the third straight week at the Utica Pioneer Spring Invitational with a throw of 37.97 meters (124 feet, 7 inches). For a fourth straight week, Schwartz broke the record again, this time with a throw of 38.62 meters which ranked 40th in Division III this year at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 19.
Amelia Johnson ’28 set a school record in the preliminary heats of the indoor 60-meter hurdles with a 9.78 in preliminary rounds. She ran a 9.85 in the finals and placed fifth at the 2024 Utica University Track & Field Holiday Classic at Todd & Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024. This record did not last long as Johnson broke it weeks later when she posted a time of 9.69 seconds in the preliminary heats at the Rochester Institute of Technology Thursday Meet inside Gordon Field House on Jan. 30 before she finished third in the finals with a time of 9.83 seconds.
Keira Rogan ’28 broke the school record and qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, April 4. With a time of 10:27.88, she eclipsed the previous team record by nearly 36 seconds. Jen Cammarano ’03 had held the old team record of 11:03.54 since 2002. Rogan’s time is now currently the second-fastest recorded time in Division III history.
Rogan also broke the women’s 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:33.73 at Monmouth University Season Opener in West Long Branch, N.J on Saturday, March 29. It’s the seventh-fastest time in NCAA Division III so far this season. Amanda Chase ’03 held the old record of 4:35.34 since April 2003.
Rogan then set the women’s team record for the indoor mile at the 2025 Utica University Track & Field Winter Opener at Todd & Jenn Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Friday, Jan. 17 with a time of 5:03.66. Hanna Jerome ’18 held the old record of 5:03.98 set in Feb. 25, 2018. Rogan would then break her own record later in the season when she finished second out of 50 athletes at the New England Small College Invitational at The TRACK at New Balance on Sunday, Jan. 26. With a time of 4:57.07, she posted the 10th best time in NCAA Division III track at that point in the season.
The women’s 3,000-meter run team record was also broken by Rogan this season. Sarah Grygiel ’83 had held the old team record of 9:58.74 since 1982. The record, which had stood for 43 years, was beaten by 16 seconds. Rogan’s time of 9:42.20 qualified her for the AARTFC indoor championships in the event. It was also the fifth-best time in Division III at that time. Rogan also now holds the women’s 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:47.68 and broke the team record that Maggie Hanson ’02 had held since the 2001 NCAA championships.
The Continentals will next compete in the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m.
