David Kagan ’20 ran for 195 yards — the most by any Continental running back since 2004 — and scored three touchdowns in Hamilton’s 37–24 win over Bowdoin College on Saturday, Sept. 14. He was subsequently named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week and to the D3football.com Offensive Team of the Week.
Hometown:
McLean, VA.
Position:
Running back.
Favorite Professional Athlete:
Saquon Barkley.
How did you get introduced to football:
I’ve loved football for as long as I can remember. As a little kid, I was always knocking things down or trying to tackle my sister. I started playing organized tackle football when I was six.
Favorite thing to do on campus besides your sport:
Dusting my friends in NHL 19.
What attracted you to Hamilton’s football program:
When I came to visit, I was blown away by the beauty of the campus. When I met our coaches, I knew that Hamilton was the place for me. You couldn’t ask for a better coaching staff; it’s easily one of the finest in Division III football.
Toughest obstacle to overcome during athletic career:
In my senior year of high school, I tore my labrum in the first game of the season. I missed the next four games, then played the rest of the season with a shoulder brace. The toughest part was probably just standing on the sidelines not being able to help the team win.
Favorite sports moment at Hamilton:
Beating Wesleyan last year on a blocked punt late in the fourth quarter.
What are you most looking forward to this season:
This is the best that Hamilton Football has looked in my four years here. I have all the confidence in the world that we’re poised to have a phenomenal season. I’m mostly just looking forward to shocking the NESCAC and proving that Hamilton has a premier football program.
If you weren’t on the football team, what Hamilton sports team would you want to be on and why:
I’d probably try to play rugby. I’ve always wanted to play but haven’t been able to because I didn’t want to risk getting injured and missing time on the football field.
