
On Monday, March 4, the College announced that Julia La Roche, senior writer and on-air reporter for
Yahoo Finance
, will moderate the “Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurship with Technology” discussion between David Solomon ’84 and Thomas Tull ’92 on March 12. The discussion will focus on contemporary issues regarding the intersection of technology and business.
According to a College press release, La Roche has extensive experience interviewing business leaders. She has conducted on-air interviews with Starbucks chairman emeritus Howard Schultz, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio, DoubleLine Capital CEO Jeffrey Gundlach, Pershing Square Capital CEO Bill Ackman, former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, Alibaba vice chairman Joe Tsai, and others.
La Roche graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied broadcast journalism. In college, she reported for the award-winning student-run newscast “Carolina Week,” according to

Solomon and Tull have worked in leadership roles in various areas of the business world. Solomon spent time at Irving Trust Company, Drexel Burnham, and Bear Stearns before joining Goldman Sachs, where he is the current chairman and CEO. He is a member of Hamilton’s Board of Trustees and the co-chair of the College’s “Because Hamilton” capital campaign.
Tull is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Tulco, a Pittsburgh-based investment-holding company. He is also involved with the film and sports industries as a member of the ownership group for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League and a board member of Hamilton College, Carnegie Mellon University, the Motion Picture Television Fund, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the National Football Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, and the
