Senior Captain Kena Gilmour ’20 was selected as one of ten male finalists for the Josten Trophy this year. The award honors the most outstanding men’s and women’s NCAA Division 3 basketball players of the year. The Rotary Club of Salem (Virginia) presents the award and stand by the Rotary International motto “Service above Self.” With this motto in mind, the committee considers not only basketball ability but also academic prowess and community service.
Gilmour ’20 averaged 22.0 points per game this season, along with 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals. He ended his Hamilton career with 1,935 points, ranking him fifth on the team’s all-time scoring list. Gilmour also led his team to four consecutive NESCAC quarterfinal appearances, including two third-round appearances during his sophomore and junior seasons. He started every game for the Continentals and was named to the first-team All-NESCAC for the third year in a row.
Not only was he first-team all-NESCAC, but he was also named to the NESCAC All-Academic team for three consecutive years. Gilmour is a government major who maintains a 3.70 grade point average. The winner of this prestigious honor will be announced on March 13.
