Dear Hamilton community,
For nearly half of our lives, Donald J. Trump has been on the presidential ballot. This means for nearly half of our lives, American politics have been marked by instability, hateful rhetoric and vitriol. Understandably, the sentiment on our campus feels tense, if not gloomy. The weather seems to match the general mood — a little drizzle, a lack of sun, and the irony of a climate change denier elected on a 60 degree November day.
We understand that not everyone will share our opinion on the outcome of this election, but we all share the unique experience of witnessing this historical event unfold on Hamilton’s campus. While we are here, take every opportunity to learn as much as you can about civics as both academic and democratic institutions remain threatened by President Trump’s rhetoric.
Sincerely,
Anoushka Aswin ’25 and Nicole Greenberg ’25
