Hamilton students experienced their first Pub Night on Feb. 18, 1994, though The Little Pub would not be built until two years later. Instead, students gathered in the Bristol Center Hub for loud music and 75 cent draft beer.
At the time, Pub Night was implemented to address a growing need for social opportunities on campus.
Looking for feedback, the Pub Committee encouraged attendees to add their thoughts to a comment board. Major complaints included a steep cover charge ($3), “bad” beer and a bar that stopped serving alcohol at 12:15 a.m.
Though students expressed room for improvement, the overall consensus was that Pub Night was a success. In response, the Committee scheduled another Pub Night for a month later. Three decades later—plus an actual on-campus pub—Pub Night remains a Hamilton institution. See you at Senior Pub on Thursday!
