Dear Hamilton Community,
While we know it’s a rainy week, we hope you are making the most of the cozy vibes and the leaves finally changing colors and making their way to the ground. It’s the true beginning of fall, and as cheesy as it sounds, the start of warm teas, chunky cardigans and Halloween decorations.
Happy Homecoming Weekend! As you can see on the last page, tons of sports games are taking place over the next few days, with even more taking place throughout the week. Alumni will be visiting campus from all over the world, here to celebrate the festivities and connect with their old home!
One of Hamilton’s most popular traditions, 46 Peaks, is happening the weekend of Oct. 3rd and signups are at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 25th, at the Glen House. This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and help Hamilton reach its goal of getting a group of students to the top of all 46 of the Adirondack High Peaks. There will be over 20 trips to choose from, with a variety of trip lengths and intensities.
We are also so excited to welcome two new columns, “Sports Recap” from Vince Manni ’26 and “Ms. Know-it-All”, an all-new advice column accepting submissions using a QR code available on page 8. We hope you enjoy these new columns, and keep an eye out for more coming soon!
Finally, we want to emphasize The Spectator’s commitment to free speech and fostering a community where diverse ideas can be expressed openly. We believe that free speech is essential to academic and community life, and we welcome contributions that reflect a wide range of political, social and cultural perspectives. However, we firmly stand against hate speech. Criticism and debate are important pillars of journalism, but incitement of violence or dehumanization of individuals or groups has no place in our publication. We aim to promote a culture of respect so that every voice can be heard, while holding one another to a standard of integrity.
Sincerely,
The Spectator
