
On Jan. 16, the College Communications Office announced the nomination of three members of the Alumni Council to the Hamilton Board of Trustees, and the nomination of one member to be president of the Alumni Association. Hamilton’s Alumni Council consists of approximately 300 members, and is the largest and the most representative body of its type in the NESCAC. The committees of the Alumni Council include the Executive Committee, the Multicultural Alumni Relations Committee and the Nominations Committee. The Alumni Association provides financial and personnel support to the College, such as organizing fundraising campaigns and provides volunteers for College events and admissions purposes.
Johannes P. Burlin ’89 was nominated to serve as an Alumni Trustee on the Board of Trustees. A native of Sweden, Burlin studied economics while at Hamilton and was a member of choir and brass choir while on the Hill. After his graduation, Burlin received a law degree from Columbia Law School, and he is currently co-CEO of Tilia Holdings, a private equity firm that invests in companies related to the safety of the food supply chain. Previously, Burlin served as a member of his 30th Reunion Planning Committee.
Alison M. Hill ’87 was also nominated to serve as an Alumni Trustee on the Board of Trustees. A public policy major, Hill played on the varsity ice hockey and field hockey teams during her time at Hamilton, and, upon graduation, earned a law degree from Case Western University School of Law. Professionally, Hill works as a managing director at Prologis, a firm in the industrial logistics real estate industry. Hill’s previous service to Hamilton includes serving as an admissions volunteer and as a regional president of the Northern California Alumni Association.
Gregory M. Schwarz ’94 was the third person nominated by the Alumni Council for a position on the Board of Trustees. Schwartz was a Government major during his time at Hamilton, and was a member of the swimming and diving team as well as the Chi Psi fraternity. Schwartz currently works as the chief business officer for the Zillow Group, an online real estate database company. His previous service to Hamilton College includes serving as a volunteer for the Career Center and as an advisor for the Advancement Office.
Gordon D. Kaye ’74, P’05 was nominated by the Alumni Council to serve as President of the Alumni Association. Kaye was a Government major at Hamilton. Following graduation, Kaye earned a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton University and a law degree from Columbia University through a joint program. Kaye is the editor and publisher of the Graphic Design USA magazine.
Kaye is currently serving as Alumni Association president and Alumni Council chair.
