SpeakEasy is an established program that aims to combine activism and social justice with art to demonstrate the ways in which art can be used as an instrument to send an effective social message. SpeakEasy welcomes and embraces students from all walks of life and has become a tradition for Hamilton students. The open mic night will feature students from the campus community and professional artists, including Dr. Crystal Endsley, Dr. Tony Keith, and Terri Moise ’17. Dr. Endsley, Dr. Keith, and Moise will lead the poetry workshop the following day. The event is organized by the Feminists of Color Collective in collaboration with the Womxn’s Center, BLSU, QSU, Sadove, and Student Assembly.
Acoustic Coffeehouse Performance: Ambar Lucid
Thursday, Nov. 14, Events Barn, 8:00 PM (Doors open at 7:30 PM)
Mexican-Dominican musician Ambar Lucid will headline the event, with Kenny Talarico ’22 as the opener. The event is co-sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and La Vanguardia. Free Dominican food, Takis, and Opus drinks will be served, and there will be a mug raffle.
Fall Main-stage Theatre Department Production: TRAGEDY: a tragedy
Saturday, Nov. 16, Romano Theatre, 2:00PM and 7:30PM
A modern play with absurdist themes and satirization of the news. TRAGEDY was written by Will Eno, is directed by Craig Latrell, and features a cast of ten Hamilton students. Tickets are $4 for students, $6 for senior citizens and campus, and $10 for general admission. The event is open to off-campus guests.
PUSH PHYSICAL THEATRE
Saturday, Nov. 16, Wellin Hall, 7:30 PM
The PUSH company “pushes” the boundaries of theater through a blend of acrobatics, dance, gymnastics, and theater. Tickets are $5 for students and $15 for faculty and staff. The event is open to off-campus guests.
Visiting Artist Series: Sharon Lockhart

Contemporary American filmmaker and photographer Sharon Lockhart will present a lecture and her film

(2016). The event will be in conjunction with Professor of Art History Scott MacDonald’s F.I.L.M. Program. Earlier in the day, Lockhart’s film
Double Tide
(2009) will be shown in Bradford Auditorium at 1:00 PM during MacDonald’s Avant-Garde cinema class. Both events are free and open to the public.
Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale with Symphoria

The Masterworks Chorale with Symphoria will perform Felix Medelssohn’s oratorio

. G. Roberts Kolb will conduct, with soloists Julia Ebner (soprano), Danan Tsan (mezzo-soprano), David Parks (tenor), David Kolb (baritone and as Elijah), and Giada Sedge (child soprano). Tickets are free for Hamilton College students, $8 for senior citizens, and $10 for adults. The event is open to off-campus guests.
