—Claudia Tenney’s signature phrase “You can’t spell Brindisi without BS”. Besides being crude and unbefitting of someone seeking public office, the rationale behind her and her surrogates’ claims simply does not hold water when tested against basic logic and facts. Congressman Anthony Brindisi has been an unusually effective freshman legislator in his first term in Congress, unlike his predecessor Claudia Tenney, who failed to pass a single bill during her time in office (per GovTrack). Not only has Anthony delivered on his promises, he’s been extremely transparent with his constituents.
Let’s talk about Spectrum for a second. To say that Anthony hasn’t stuck to his word on this issue is simply false. He’s introduced multiple bills to stop the company from being able to raise rates. Anthony doesn’t take corporate PAC money (unlike Claudia). If we were really to follow the money, we would see that Claudia voted to give Spectrum a $9B tax cut, then blatantly lied about how giving Corporations a hand out had already paid for itself.
I think it may be hard for Claudia to imagine someone voting purely based on whether they believe a bill has merits rather than party. To say that Anthony has not been a bipartisan legislator is laughable, when you look at the fact that all of the 6 (!) bills he’s passed while in office have had a Republican co-sponsor. He was even one of 5 Congressional representatives who received the Chamber of Commerce’s bipartisanship award. Anthony doesn’t have time for petty partisanship- he’s too busy working to deliver for his constituents. I guess Claudia can’t relate.
Speaking of delivering for his constituents, the SPOONSS Act is a landmark piece of legislation that directly benefits our local economy. Anthony actually got the bill passed, while Claudia literally forgot to call it for a floor vote
.
Anthony’s always been transparent that he’s the one who’s actually gotten it done, after failure from previous leadership.
Claudia says that she’s all for small government and freedom, but doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to choose what to do with her own body. She doesn’t recognize the blatant disregard for the lives of BIPOC in our judicial system
.
Maybe it’s just me, but these things don’t line up. It’s easy to ignore the contradictions in your ideology when you’re too busy vying for the attention of your personal icons: Donald Trump and his demagogues.
Claudia lost in 2018 because the people recognized her inability to uphold her responsibilities to her constituents. Her sycophantic support of President Trump, who has now allowed the deaths of 200,000 American citizens because of his ineptitude when it has come to the COVID-19 Pandemic, does not benefit our communities. She’s One Term Tenney for a reason, and Hamilton Democrats are working every day to ensure that our community, our home for four years and the foundation of the rest of our lives stays represented by Anthony Brindisi. If any of these things infuriate you as much as they infuriate me, you can do two things: vote and volunteer. You don’t have to be represented by a Trump Republican who doesn’t care about you or your rights. There is a better option, and it’s Anthony.
