The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) released its annual All-NESCAC teams on Wednesday, Feb. 27. To be named to one of the teams designates a player as one of the best in the conference. Kena Gilmour ’20 (shown above) and Peter Hoffmann ’19 (shown below) were both named to All-NESCAC teams.
Hoffmann’s third straight All-NESCAC second team nomination is well-deserved, as he averaged 12.6 points per game. He is in the top 20 in the NESCAC in field goal percentage, assists, steals, and blocked shots. Hoffmann will graduate 10th, at minimum, in scoring in program history with 1,431 points.
Gilmour received his second nomination to the All-NESCAC first team in as many years, and Hoffmann was nominated to the second team for the third year straight. Each team is composed of five stand-out players from the season; Hoffmann and Gilmour were 2 of only 10 players chosen. This is even more of an accomplishment given that Hamilton players account for one-fifth of All-NESCAC spots but are one of 11 teams.
Additionally, Gilmore was named the NESCAC Player of the Year as the best individual player this season. This is the Continentals’ first Player of the Year since they joined the NESCAC for men’s basketball during the 2011–12 season. Gilmour was Rookie of the Year during the 2016–17 season and a
member of the first All-NESCAC team last year for the 2017–18 season. He was selected for this honor by the coaches in the NESCAC.
Gilmour, a government major from New Paltz, N.Y., led Hamilton to the semifinals for the first time in Continentals history with his 19.1 points per game, which is also second-best in the NESCAC. His 5.9 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per game helped the team to secure the #2 seed during the regular season as well. He was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s Basketball team for his scholastic achievements and academic success.
